During the reporting period, over 2,800 individuals returned to Afghanistan through Torkham and Spin Boldak, the main two border crossings with Pakistan, of which 84% were undocumented individuals and Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) holders and 16% POR card holders and other returns. Over 1,900 returnees were assisted in March by the border consortium. While the number of returnees and assisted individuals marks a decrease compared to February, this is mainly due to a reduction of movements during Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr as well as the fact that Torkham border crossing in Nangarhar province remained closed for most of the reporting period until 22 March due to security reasons. Similarly, the number of deportations of undocumented individuals through both border crossings decreased after increasing for two months in a row. However, the proportion among all undocumented returns remains relatively high at 18% and the 433 individuals reported in March still mark an increase of over 73% compared to the monthly average throughout 2024. The most common intended destinations reported by assisted households were Kabul, Kandahar, Nangarhar and Paktika.
