Afghanistan: ANA, Civil Affairs Soldiers lend hand at Asadabad girls' school

JALALABAD AIRFIELD, Afghanistan - Members of International Security Assistance Force's Provincial Reconstruction Team Asadabad helped Afghan National Army soldiers deliver school supplies to local schoolgirls and their teachers April 29 in Asadabad

The ANA soldiers came from 2nd Kandak, 3rd Brigade, 201st ANA Corps.

The soldiers delivered 50 book bags filled with school supplies to second grade students at the Fatima girls' school in downtown Asadabad.

They also brought approximately 500 pounds of food supplies for female teachers, many of whom work for low wages and face intimidation from area militants.

ANA Maj. Adim Khan, the executive officer of the 2nd Kandak, organized the humanitarian assistance effort in conjunction with embedded trainers and members of the Civil Affairs Team of the Asadabad Provincial Reconstruction Team. Major Khan told students Afghan National Security Forces were ready and able to provide assistance to the people of Asadabad.
