35 vehicles handed over to provinces for provision of better vaccination services

Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Wednesday handed over 35-Zero KM of Hilux Cars to the some provinces of the country in order to provision of better vaccination services.

These vehicles have been purchased by financial support of GAVI Alliance for the Ministry which would play so important role in delivering of vaccination services to remote villages of the provinces.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of Public Health Dr. Suraya Dalil said: “vaccination implementing and ensuring from coverage of vaccination is one of the most important programs of MoPH which is cheapest and most effective program for prevention of many diseases and in declining of infant mortality in Afghanistan”.

“The vehicles were handed over to the provinces in order to monitoring and evaluation of immunization program and also will be used to provide vaccination materials and supplies from the centers to the districts and villages of the provinces”, Dr. Dalil added.

Meanwhile, WHO representative in Afghanistan Dr. Arshad Qodus said, “Today is very important day which we are taking another step towards to strengthening our health system and ultimately increasing the coverage of immunization in preventing many illnesses, particularly in the children.

“We would like to reassure the Ministry of Public Health that we will extend all the possible supports both WHO and UNICEF for increasing the immunization coverage in Afghanistan”, the representative of WHO added.

At the end of ceremony, the keys of these vehicles were submitted to the in charges of vaccine implementation program of Kandahar, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kabul, Paktia, Konduz, Ghour, Helmand, Nemrooz, Konar, Badakhshan, Jawzjan, Faryab, Ghazni, Bameyan, Parwan, Wardak and Baghlan provinces.
