NOUAKCHOTT, 15th July, 2018 (WAM) -- The Sheikha Fatima Global Humanitarian Campaign began its medical diagnostic, treatment and preventive missions in Mauritanian villages, treating hundreds of women and children, under the slogan, 'In the Footsteps of Zayed', which included supervision by volunteer doctors from the UAE and Mauritania.
The campaign aims to promote the culture of volunteering and humanitarian giving among the youth, in light of 2018 Year of Zayed as per the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
ABYAN, Yemen, 15th July, 2018 (WAM) -- The Emirates Red Crescent has begun the distribution of food baskets in the areas and valleys surrounding the village of Khanfar in the Yemeni Governorate of Abyan, as part of efforts to meet the immediate needs of Yemenis and improve living conditions of people in liberated areas.
"The distribution of food baskets is part of a series of relief efforts undertaken by the UAE in Yemen, under the guidance of the UAE leadership, represented by its humanitarian arm the ERC," said Khalid Ibrahim Omar, ERC coordinator in the province.
ABU DHABI, 15th July, 2018 (WAM) -- The Saudi-led Arab Coalition in collaboration with the Emirates Red Crescent announced on Saturday the successful implementation of its first trial food drop in the Northern Tuhaita province of Yemen.
The food drop, implemented by C17 planes using the Joint Precision Airdrop System (JPAD) technology, delivered 13 tonnes of food and fresh water through 243 food and water packages to families in Tuhaita. They are expected to sustain 1,700 Yemenis.
BEIRUT, 12th July, 2018 (WAM) -- Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador in Beirut, witnessed the graduation of 43 female Syrian refugees in Lebanon, who attended a vocational course on women’s empowerment, which was supported by the Sharjah Charity International, SCI.
The Women’s Empowerment Institution in Beirut, a branch of the Social Welfare Institutions, SWI, in Lebanon also taught the women the fundamentals of sewing for four months and provided them with sewing machines, to enable them to make a daily living.
ABU DHABI, 9th July, 2018 (WAM) -- The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, is continuing its efforts to improve the humanitarian and development conditions in Ethiopia, and is preparing to build 1,000 homes to support displaced people.
