The HALO Trust conducted an extensive landmine survey in the area between 1999 and 2000, and between 1998 and 2007 HALO ran a fully integrated mine clearance programme.
The CIMIC (Civil-Military Coordination) project of rehabilitating the tuberculosis hospital in Zugdidi district was initiated in 2007, and was made possible with the financial support of the European Commission Delegation to Georgia.
