Highlights

  • The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) has declared the ALL CLEAR phase for the country of Belize.

  • The center of now Tropical Storm Earl was located near latitude 17.2 North, longitude 89.9 West or about 50 miles west of Belize City. Earl continues to weaken as it tracks westward away from Belize.

  • Tropical Strom Earl has formed in the Central Caribbean and is moving due west at 22mph with winds of 47 mph.

  • Belize is in the trajectory path and the system is likely to make landfall on Wednesday night/early Thursday morning.

  • National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) has declared Phase 2, one red flag with black centre is to be flown. This means that a Tropical Storm Warning/Hurricane Watch is in effect for Belize.

Situation

During the course of the night TS Paula was upgraded to a category 1 hurricane. As of 5:00 a.m. this 12/10/10) the tropical cyclone was located some 198 miles WNW of Belize City, with sustained winds of 75 mph.

Situation

As of 9:00 a.m. today (12/10/10), Hurricane Paula was located at latitude 18.6=B0N, longitude 85.7=B0 W, i.e. 155 mile ENE of San Pedro.

This situation report is based on information received from the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), 4:30 p.m. briefing of the NEOC.

Situation

1. As of 4:00 p.m. today (11/10/10) tropical Storm Paula was located over the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua/ Honduras, some 300 miles SE of Belize City. The Tropical system is moving to the NW at 9 mph with sustained wind speeds of 60 mph. It is expected that TS Paula will re-emerged into the Caribbean and further developed into a Category 1 hurricane by 2:00 p.m.
