Swisscross Foundation

Description

The Swisscross Foundation is an independent and impartial humanitarian non-profit organisation which seeks to provide help and support to medical staff and populations affected by armed conflict and other humanitarian emergencies.

Through educational and research-driven initiatives, the Swisscross empowers, strengthens, and supports local medical capacities by covering a wide scope of topics that affect the quality and efficiency of medical care in emergencies.

As the Swisscross works to enhance the quality of medical treatment in conflict zones, and across borders, it also aims to restore human dignity by providing treatment which enhances the victim’s quality of life and ability to perform tasks crucial to their survival.

Based in Zurich, Switzerland, The Foundation is led by a Board of Trustees and chaired by its founder Enrique Steiger, M.D, an experienced war surgeon with over twenty-five years of experience in the humanitarian field.
