South Sudan Council of Churches
Description
outh Sudan Council of Churches is an Ecumenical body comprised of seven (7) member Churches and associate Churches in South Sudan with a strong legacy of Peace building, reconciliation, and advocacy.
SSCC provides a platform to enhance the spirit of Ecumenical cooperation towards collective action for peace; by its very nature, the Church is a Peacemaker. Peace is more than just the absence of war and silence of guns, neither is peace attained overnight and as the Church, we commit ourselves to this long-term process.
Founded in 2013, its history dates to the late 1960s when the Sudan Council of Churches was formed by three (3) founder members, the Catholic, Episcopal (Anglican) and Presbyterian Churches before South Sudan became an independent State from Sudan in 2011.
