Washington, D.C. - The Lambi Fund of Haiti, located in Washington D.C. and Port au Prince, Haiti, will launch 9 various projects with smallholder farmers in Kavayon, Manich and Okay to improve family livelihoods and create income-generating opportunities in the southwest corridor of Haiti.

The project is funded by a $ 139,321 grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation of Battle Creek, Michigan.

Executive Summary

Following the devastating January 12, 2010 earthquake, Haiti's government, supported by the World Bank, led an ambitious Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA)-an operative blueprint for reconstruction. Astonishingly, the PDNA failed to address gender issues. This Gender Shadow report (GSR) provides the missing gender content for PDNA policymakers, donors, civil society groups and all stakeholders involved in Haiti's reconstruction.

Each tree planted represented Western Union's pledge to aid The Lambi Fund of Haiti to reforest the severely deforested hillsides in Haiti.

For those other hours without electricity, they makeup for it by using charcoal to cook and gas-powered generators for electricity.
