BAGHDAD, Feb 13 (KUNA) ­­ The initial phase of Kuwaiti projects backed by a USD 100 million grant for Iraqi areas affected by terrorism will begin next week, an Iraqi official said on Wednesday.

Some 19 healthcare projects, worth USD 15 million, will be carried out to rebuild and renovate hospitals across five provinces, head of the fund's distribution Mustafa Al­Haiti told a press conference.

The Iraqi side is discussing with Kuwaiti officials combining the next USD 85 million phase, he added. (end)

ANKARA, Jan 30 (KUNA) ­­ The Kuwaiti Al­Najat Charitable Society on Wednesday distributed relief supplies to Syrian refugees in the southern Turkish town of Sanliurfa.

The head of resources and media at the society, Omar Al­Thuwaini, said in a statement 35 volunteers have been involved in the campaign, "Warmness and Safety," to relieve more than 10,000 Syrian refugees.

The delivered materials included clothes, food, mattresses, tents, heating utensils and other necessities.

DOHA, Feb 8 (KUNA) -- Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani Thursday instructed that urgent aid worth 33 million Qatari riyals (US nine million) be provided to the Gaza Strip.

Qatari humanitarian aid includes medicine, medical and food supplies and fuel for hospital generators, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

The Qatari humanitarian gesture comes in response to the hard humanitarian conditions in the enclave due to a sharp shortage of medicine and fuel triggered off by the Israeli blockade on the Palestinian territory.

KUWAIT, March 3 (KUNA) -- Living up to its UN-bestowed status as an International Humanitarian Center, Kuwait scaled up its response to the humanitarian emergencies in Syria and other parts of the world throughout the last week.

On Sunday, February 25, Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) delivered food aid to residents of Eastern Ghouta, to the east of the Syrian capital city of Damascus, in cooperation with Turkey's Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH).

The aid campaign is to continue for 15 days to provide food for some 126,700 Syrians trapped in the war-torn city.
