JEN has been working in one of the IDP camps in the Kurdish region, which accommodates approximately 13,000 individuals. In a crowded emergency situation, where people live close to each other, the likelihood of diseases developing and spreading quickly is high. Although each tent is allocated a private toilet facility in the Camp, which allows for greater privacy and better sanitation environment, some people engage in risky hygiene behaviors.

We could have supported to rebuild their lives of more than 167,000 IDPs and returnees for 7 years in the North and the East of Sri Lanka. We constructed 188 transitional shelters and 188 semi-permanent toilets. Also, we could clean 1,535 wells and renovated 1,275 wells, and constructed 13 common tube wells not only to assure safe water for domestic use, but also to be a base for restarting regular vocation towards farmers. Also, we could construct or renovate 16 culverts, which promoted marking and economic activities during rainy season.

Sinjar Mountain is located in the northeast of Iraq in the Ninewa governorate. Since August 2014, the, when city of Sinjar was taken over by ISIS, as many as 50,000 people fled to Sinjar Mountain. Most of them have since been relocated to other parts of Kurdistan, but a little over 1,000 families still remain in the mountain, living in harsh conditions. The majority of IDPs are living in tents and makeshift shelters in spontaneous settlements scattered around the mountain.

Bannu city is the headquarter of Bannu Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Bannu is an oldest city founded in ancient times. However the foundation of the present Bannu was placed by Lieutenant Herbert Edwardes in 1848. Due to its geographical location and proximity to Afghanistan Bannu was once a British military base used for action against Afghan border tribes. Bannu has borders with east of Khost province of Afghanistan, 35 km east of North and South Waziristan, 127 km south of Kohat and 143 km north of Dera Ismail Khan.

JEN has been involved in wide range of activities including helping victims make a living and restore their communities since right after the disaster in the Oshika Peninsula, the city of Ishinomaki. Its activities to restore communities have been conducted mainly in the Ohara district located in the middle of the peninsula.
