Interfaith League Against Poverty
Description
Interfaith League Against Poverty (I-LAP) is a non-profit organisation, established in 2004 and registered under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies Ordinance 1961. The organisation is dedicated to promote religious tolerance, peace, interfaith harmony and respect for all religions around the globe.
I-LAP is a non partisan citizen action organisation committed to bring interfaith harmony in the country and its main focus is to assist the marginalised communities irrespective of their faith, cast, and creed in order to strengthen them economically while highlighting the importance of Peace and Interfaith harmony in their daily lives. The motto of I-LAP is “the more we sweat in Peace, the less we bleed in War”.
While the organisation is based in Islamabad it has been successful in extending its outreach to four provinces of Pakistan, namely Punjab, KPK, Sindh and Baluchistan, encompassing forty districts. All programmes of I-LAP focus on promotion of peace at local, national and international levels.
I-LAP has been certified by the Pakistan Center for Philanthropy (PCP) for its outstanding performance in the areas of Internal Governance, Financial Management and Programme Delivery. I-LAP is a member organisation of International Network of Museums for Peace; it is also a member of Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI) and holds tax exemption status from Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
