Cyclonic Storm

According to the observations at (06:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm "Pabuk" over the Andaman Sea is centred at about (235) miles South-Southeast of Coco Island, (330) miles South-Southeast of Hainggyikyun (Myanmar) and (150) miles Southeast of Port Blair (India). The present stage of the Cyclonic Storm "Pabuk" is coded yellow stage.

A total of 100 Myanmar migrant workers who were detained in Thailand for various reasons while working in southern Thailand were brought back to Kawthoung under the arrangement of the authorities of the two countries.

Local authorities in Kawthoung welcomed 82 men and 18 women who returned by boat through Ranong, Thailand.

The authorities including police, immigration and labour officers provided necessary assistance to them and staff of the health department gave medical care to them.

On August 24, 2016, we were forcefully reminded of this, when a magnitude-6.8 earthquake shook Myanmar, its people, and its cultural heritage. The Bagan Cultural Heritage Site saw the earthquake damage more than 350 monuments, and put our country on notice: we must act to safeguard our cultural heritage and the people inextricably linked to it.

At the ceremony held in Myitkyina City Hall, PRC Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Hong Liang said that during the day’s trip the embassy is providing Ks 160 million worth of rice, cooking oil and materials such as blankets, Ks 12 million worth of medicine to displaced persons in the three townships of Sumprabum, Putao and Machanbaw. It is expected that this efforts could raise the socio-economic and health care situation of the people said the Ambassador.
