Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Win Myat Aye encouraged and helped local people living in Kawa and Thanatpin Township, Bago Region, who had their houses damaged and roofs blown off due to strong winds on 21 October.

The Union Minister met and discussed with Bago Region Chief Minister U Win Thein, the Deputy Speaker of the regional Hluttaw and members of the Regional Cabinet at the Bago Regional Government Office.

Ambassador of China to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Hong Liang and party donated US$ 100,000 and Natmauk Network and Natmauk Township Association (Nay Pyi Taw) donated ks720,500 for the flood victims yesterday morning at the Ministry of Social welfare, Relief and Resettlement. Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Win Myat Aye received the donations and then presented certificate of honors to the donors. The donations will be used effectively for the flood victims it is learnt.

National Natural Disaster Management Committee announced yesterday that it will construct seven school-cum shelters in Sagaing Region as the region experiences floods every year.

The announcement came at the ceremony to hand over the documents for construction of the buildings at the cost of K1.186 billion to the Sagaing Region Government yesterday in Nay Pyi Taw.

A total of 28,800 anti-bacterial water purifying bags were donated to flood victims in Thaton Township, Mon State, by the 1994-1995 batch of graduate students from the Yangon University of Economics, at the Township Flood Rescue Administration office yesterday.

The donated bags of water purification tablets were accepted by Chairman of the Township Flood Rescue Administration office U Thein Win, after which he expressed his words of thanks to the donors.
