Le Conseil économique et social (ECOSOC) a clos, cet après-midi, la session 2018 de son segment humanitaire en adoptant sans vote sa résolution annuelle sur le « renforcement de la coordination de l’aide humanitaire d’urgence fournie par les organismes des Nations Unies ».

Thank you very much to all of you for your active participation throughout this week. I particularly want to thank the Vice-President of this year’s ECOSOC Humanitarian Affairs Segment, Ambassador Matjila, and the many excellent panelists and participants for your insights and the work you do to give voice to people affected by humanitarian crises.

Once again, this Segment is taking place in the context of staggering levels of humanitarian need.

2018 SESSION, 39TH & 40TH MEETINGS (AM & PM)

Concluding its humanitarian affairs segment, the Economic and Social Council today adopted a resolution on improving emergency response, stressing that the United Nations could better coordinate the protection of civilians, including women and children, persons with disabilities, the wounded, sick and displaced.
