EU leaders must live up to their commitments to European values in responding to migration and stop copying xenophobic populist recipes, more than 160 NGOs said today in a joint statement. The organizations are calling for strong leadership to uphold the rights and values that have been the founding principles of the European Union for 60 years.
This Discussion Paper has been prepared by a consortium of humanitarian assistance agencies in India to present a case for review of the decision by a few donors to discontinue support to India because of the apparent perception that India does not require overseas development assistance. It also reflects the commitment of humanitarian agencies to ensure that the Vision of “Zero Tolerance to Avoidable Deaths in Disasters” professed by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Government of India is honoured in letter and spirit.

Funds have been made available for the rebuilding or repair of some of these classrooms, whilst Cord has scheduled meetings to find workable short term solutions for those that would not be repaired immediately.

Political agreements have been signed with insurgent ethnic group in border areas, media censorship has been relaxed and revised economic policies have begun to attract millions of dollars in foreign investment.
