INTRODUCTION
THE IDEAS BOX AT A GLANCE
A media center in a kit, the Ideas Box fits on two pallets and can be installed in less than 20 minutes under any conditions. It brings:
• A satellite Internet connection, 15 tablets and 4 laptops
• A library with 250 paper books and thousands of e-books as well as 50 e-readers
• MOOC and stand-alone Internet educational digital contents such as Khan Academy, Wikipedia, mapping software, etc.
• A cinema with a rich film collection
• 5 HD cameras for film-making and journalism
On the basis of the successful pilot project conducted with Care in Azraq camp, Libraries Without Borders is looking for implementing partners to jointly deploy the Ideas Box at large scale in Jordan. This note underlines the added value of Ideas Box projects in your Education and Protection programs.
The Ideas Box in a nutshell
1. SUMMARY
Deployed in Burundi for over a year now, the Ideas Box is facing real success. Use and community interest for the device are continuously on the rise.
The mid-term impact report published in the summer of 2014 highlighted early trends after six months of observation. One of the main recommandations of this study was the organisation of a psychosocial assessment of the Ideas Box on Congolese populations living in refugee camps in Burundi.
