Baytna Syria
Description
In 2013, Denmark supported the establishment of Baytna Syria as a networking, capacity building, and grantmaking facility for Syrian civil society. Located in Gaziantep, Turkey, it started attracting promising civil society organizations (CSOs) and initiatives from inside Syria, contributing to the creation of networks, providing capacity building, and awarding grants on a learning-by-doing basis.
As of spring 2014, the donor decided to reinvigorate Baytna Syria by entrusting the consortium of Transtec S.A. and Aktis Strategy Ltd. with its management. The duration of this facilitation is planned for a timeframe of 40 months, of which Phase I is scheduled to last 16 months until 31 December 2015 and Phase II 24 months until 31 December 2017. The program budget provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark for Baytna Syria is 7.3 million DKK
