Islamabad, June 27, 2018: The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the Emergency Department of Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH) previously Focus Humanitarian Assistance (FOCUS) Pakistan organised a Knowledge and Experience Sharing seminar today on effective disaster preparedness and response at the Ramada Hotel, Islamabad.
The three organizations will allocate in total up to USD 340’000 to provide shelter assistance to highly vulnerable earthquake-affected households in Chong Alai district of Osh oblast, to train local masons on affordable para-seismic construction norms and techniques, as well as to provide legal assistance to help the affected households claim their housing, land and property rights and access affordable and reliable insurance.

The three-year project will help communities in three districts tackle the most pressing challenges for safe water, sanitation and food security, and strengthen local capacity to respond to environmental shocks in a region of West Africa where communities are on the front lines of climate change.
Dushanbe, Tajikistan October 31, 2014 – The European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid Department (ECHO) under the auspices of its Disaster Preparedness Program (DIPECHO) and Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) United Kingdom signed an agreement to implement the eighth DIPECHO Project in Central Asia. Focus Humanitarian Assistance (FOCUS) in Tajikistan and Mountain Societies Development Support Programme (MSDSP) in Kyrgyzstan will implement the project, titled “Fostering Disaster Resilient Communities in Isolated Mountain Environments”.
Kabul, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, 5 August 2014 – The Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the University of Central Asia (UCA), which is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to increase the capacity of civil servants in Afghanistan through UCA’s Local Economic and Community Development (LECD) certificate programme.
