Measles
- New Zealand: Since mid-October, New Zealand (NZ), has reported 32 confirmed measles cases with 28 cases now no longer infectious. The latest case is from Queenstown and is linked to overseas travel. The ongoing outbreak poses a very high risk of further spread despite extensive public health measures, including contact tracing after an Auckland airport exposure that led to eight secondary cases. To mitigate the risk to the Pacific, the Ministry of Health, Health New Zealand, and MFAT have implemented a cross-border plan, coordinated weekly updates with six Polynesian countries, and supported immunisation, laboratory capacity, and vaccine supply through partnerships with WHO, UNICEF, and other agencies. The measles locations of interest continue to be updated. Residents are urged to monitor for symptoms and to call their healthcare provider if unwell and check their immunisation status. A red alert for measles in New Zealand is now added. – Sources: Personal exchange with New Zealand Institute for Public Health and Forensic Science focal point, New Zealand Health: Measles outbreak update - Wednesday 17 December 2025 and Measles locations of interest accessed on 23 December 2025.
