Highlights/updates since the last map was sent on PacNet on 8th April 2019

ILI and Influenza

  • The number of cases of ILI has decreased in the Solomon Islands. - Source: personal communication with country officials on 15 April 2019.

  • Influenza B cases are predominant in Northern Mariana Islands and in Guam.


  • An outbreak dengue type 2 has been declared in Tahiti on 10/04/2019. The other islands are not affected so far.

Additional information of relevance (e.g. imported cases with travel history to Pacific Island countries and territories):

  • Two (2) imported cases of dengue (1 case of DENV-1 and 1 case of DENV-2) with travel history to Fiji was reported by Queensland Health (notifiable conditions data) for the period 01/01/2019 - 7/04//2019 available online.
