Diarrhoea
- Vanuatu: From 28 October to 3 November 2024, 236 watery diarrhoea cases were reported in Vanuatu. The number of cases continues to exceed the alert threshold (158 cases per week). Efate Island recorded 222 of these cases. This is the first watery diarrhoea outbreak in 2024, primarily affecting the younger population (73% of cases are in children aged 5 years and under). During the reporting period, 3 cases were admitted to the hospital, and no deaths have been reported. Typhoid Fever
- Kiribati: From 8 to 22 October 2024, the Ministry of Health & Medical Services, Public Health Department, reported four new suspected typhoid cases and one new confirmed positive case. Since 5 June, a total of 112 cases (23 laboratory confirmed and 89 suspected cases) have been diagnosed, with 21 requiring hospitalisations. Pertussis
- New Caledonia: As of 07 November 2024, 74 cases of pertussis have been reported since April 2024, out of 630 samples tested. In October, 22 cases have been notified compared to 31 notified cases in September. Since the 1st of November, one case was reported, with the most recent case dated 02 November 2024.
