Influenza-like illness (ILI)
- ILI in Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI): There has been an increase in ILI cases in RMI, 167 cases have been reported in Week 48. Source:- Pacific Syndromic Surveillance Report Week 48 sent on pacnet on 09 December 2019 and media article accessed on 05 December 2019.
American Samoa: A measles outbreak has been declared by the Department of Health, American Samoa. There are 9 confirmed cases (5 travelers and 4 locally transmitted) reported. Fiji: There are now 18 confirmed cases of measles in Fiji as of 06 December 2019. Source:- Measles Media Release no. 13, Fiji Ministry of Health and Medical Services accessed on 08 December 2019.
Samoa: As of 08 December 2019, 4,693 measles cases have been reported by the Ministry of Health, Samoa; 70 measles related deaths have been recorded. Source:- Government of Samoa, 08 December, 2019.
New Zealand: There were 20 confirmed measles cases reported for Week 49/2019, bringing the total to 2154 for the year to date with 752 (34.9%) hospitalisations. There are two ongoing outbreaks. - One (1) imported case of dengue type 2 (DENV-2) with travel history to French Polynesia was reported by New Zealand ESR (Institute of Environmental Science and Research Ltd) for the period 30/11/2019 - 06/12/2019.
