Leptospirosis
- Fiji: As of 03 July 2023, a leptospirosis outbreak continues in Kadavu. Since the beginning of the year, 31 cases have been reported and during this period, there were 15 critically ill patients transferred to Colonial War Memorial Hospital, as well as one death. – *Source: One Health approach to fighting Leptospirosis – FBC News accessed on 04 July 2023.
- Vanuatu: As of 29 June 2023, since the beginning of the year 85 leptospirosis cases were recorded. From 29 May to 29 June 2023, 12 new Leptospirosis were reported, all cases were from the island of Santo. Influenza and Influenza-Like Illness (ILI)
- Palau: As of 02 July 2023, the number of Influenza-Like Illness cases decreased from 61 in week 25 to 48 in week 26. Typhoid Fever
- Fiji: As of 03 July 2023, 40 typhoid cases have been reported in the Northern Division. Since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Health and Medical Services continues to record cases of typhoid around the country, with 162 cases reported in the first half of this year. Due to the evolving nature of COVID-19 testing, vaccination and reporting strategies across the pacific region, the data reported might not reflect the true situation in a number of countries.

Australia: Over the last week, 13,076 cases of COVID-19 were reported across Australia, an average of 1,868 cases per day. This is down from 2,458 average daily cases the week prior. –Source: Department of Health, Australian Government accessed on 04 July 2023.

Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas (CNMI): As of 24 June 2023, 13 new cases were reported in week 25. A total of 14,012 COVID-19 cases and 43 deaths were recorded by Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation of CNMI. The number of new COVID-19 cases decreased by 40% in week 25 compared to the previous three weeks. Federated States of Micronesia (FSM): As of 30 June 2023, a total of 26,460 COVID-19 cases and 65 deaths have been reported by the FSM Department of Health and Social Affairs. Fiji: As of 29 June 2023, there were 45 new cases reported since 15 June 2023. The national 7-day rolling average of cases as of the 25th June was 3 daily cases. Tuvalu: As of 16 June 2023, a total of 3,243 COVID-19 cases and 1 death were reported by the Ministry of Health, Social Welfare, and Gender Affairs. Between 26 May – 16 June 2023, there was a total of 166 confirmed cases with 32 cases between the period of 03 – 16 June 2023. Respiratory Syncytial Virus
- American Samoa: As of 28 June 2023, Daycare centers have been closed for two weeks to prevent the spread of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), but the number of positive cases has not decreased, indicating ongoing transmission in the community. The rate of admissions for RSV has remained steady, with around 45% of pediatric patients requiring oxygen support. In response, health authorities recommend keeping children at home, avoiding public gatherings, and practicing good hygiene, while daycare centers will remain closed for an additional two weeks based on the recommendation of the Department of Health and the LBJ Hospital. – Source: Daycare closures prevents a surge in RSV numbers | Talanei accessed on 04 July 2023.
