REQUESTS FOR MEDEVAC OPERATIONS

Since March 2022, the European Commission (DG ECHO and DG SANTE) has been coordinating a UCPM medical evacuations scheme. These operations have three key strands:

Medical evacuation flights transferring patients for treatment in the EU/EEA, carried out by the EU Member States and UCPM Participating States.

Pre-planned flights for MEDEVAC patients using a medicalised plane offered by NO. The flights have been taking place every week since mid-August 2022.

An EU MEDEVAC Hub established in PL, to support patients before they travel to a hospital in another European country.
MEDEVAC operations are centrally coordinated by the ERCC with support from European countries’ liaison officers.
