Turkey hosts more than 2.8 million Syrian refugees, including one million displaced Syrians between the ages of 18 and under. Syrians make up nearly 95% of the total population in Kil is province, and nearly a quarter of the total population in Hatay and Şanlıurfa provinces. Syrians under temporary protection are expected to have improved access to education, work, and livelihood assistance in the coming year, partially due to the Emergency Social Safety Net supporting eligible refugees with cash assistance while promoting social cohesion and positively impacting host communities.
Since the EU-Turkey Statement went into effect in April 2016, at least 3,000 Syrians have been resettled from Turkey within the scope of the 1-1 resettlement scheme while an additional 7,000 Syrians have arrived to the Greek islands.
