Turkey Earthquake - Turkish Humanitarian Response (as of 26 October 2011)

  • 3 million Turkish Lira allocated to the emergency relief operation.
  • US$959,253 raised in the rst day of an aid campaign launched by the Prime Minister ERDOĞAN.
  • 3,755 search & rescue personnel, 860 medical personnel and 16 search dogs are in the aected area.
  • Delivered: 595 vehicles and heavy lifting equipment, 140 ambulances, 33 generators, 95 portable WCs, 60 prefabricated houses, 10,467 tents, 50,583 blankets, 425 sleeping bags, 21 portable kitchens and other non-food items.
  • 13 tonnes of food supply delivered to the region.
  • 3 military planes are shuttling between Ankara and Van carrying personnel and equipment.
  • Turkish coordinators deployed to Ankara Esenboða, Ýstanbul Atatürk and Ýzmir Adnan Menderes airports to facilitate response operations.
  • The Ministry of Interior Aairs has assigned coordinators from ve authorities to Van province to coordinate humanitarian operations.
  • Emergency centres work 24/7 for search-rescue, temporary shelter, debris removal, medical and psychosocial support.
  • Turkish authorities are setting up 3,000 containers as temporary shelters.
  • Weather forecasts predict some precipitation and temperatures dropping to -1C at night and 7C during daytime.
  • The Turkish Government is reportedly accepting oers of international aid. Needs include tents and prefabricated houses.
