Wildfires and severe weather have been affecting the Western Cape province over the last few days causing damage and casualties.

According to national authorities five people died, 2 000 evacuated and 827 houses damaged in Cape Town Municipality.

According to Eden District Municipality, as of 09 June at 16.00 UTC, wildfires broke out in the town of Knysna, causing five deaths and 300 houses damaged; local media, reported also that 10 000 people were displaced.
