Rainfall Performance (26th March to 1st April 2013)

During the last week many places within Somalia received moderate to heavy rains marking a possible early start of the Gu 2013 rainy season in the country. Among the places that recorded significant rains include Galckayo (32mm), Eyl (55mm), Las Anod (92mm), Jowhar (48mm) and Bardheere (103mm) . However, few places are yet to receive the much awaited rains.

Observed River levels along the Juba and Shabelle Rivers are currently slightly above the normal river levels at this time of the year following rains in upper reaches of the Ethiopian highlands in the last two weeks.
Rainfall Forecast (1st to 7th April 2013)
- The three days cumulative rainfall forecast (Map 1) indicates maintenance of wet conditions in most parts of the country which are expected to spread further in terms of space and intensity as the week progresses as seen on the seven days rainfall forecast map (Map 2).
