This map illustrates satellite-detected damaged structures in Guiuan City, Eastern Samar, Philippines. Using an image acquired by Pleiades Satellite on 8 December 2014 and comparing with an image collected 4 April 2014, UNOSAT identified 312 affected structures in the area. 45 structures were categorized as destroyed, 141 as severely damaged and 106 as moderately damaged. Note that due to significant cloud cover present on the reference image collected on 4 April, damage might have been underestimated in certain areas. In addition 20 structures have been categorized as possibly damaged due to the uncertainty produced by the cloud cover. This is a preliminary analysis & has not yet been validated in the field.
