Severe weather

Since October 2014 heavy rain, hail, snowfall, thunderstorms, floods, landslides have affected several areas of Peru, causing damage and deaths. According to the latest INDECI reports (as of 6 April 2015), more than 155 000 people were affected and 43 people were killed across the country.

Volcanic activity

Ubinas volcano, situated in the southern Peruvian department of Moquegua, erupted in the morning of 8 April, ejecting ash up to a height of 2.5 km. According to media, the ash reached an area of at least 15 km from the Volcano in the south-east direction, including the nearby villages of Escacha and Ubinas Valley. (ECHO, INDECI, INGEMMET, Media)
