Pakistan: Displacement and Return - F.A.T.A. and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 2009 - 2010 (as of 16 Jun 2010)

This map illustrates the internal displacement of population from areas affected by military operations in Kyber Pakhtunkhwa and F.AT.A. between February 2009 and April
2010.

1. Swat, Buner, Lower Dir and Shangla: Between April and May 2009, around two million people seek refuge in the southern districts of Malakand Division.
From July 2009, the majority (90%) of those IDPs returned to their areas of origin.

2. Bajaur and Mohmand Agencies: Between August 2008 and April 2010, 80,000 families were displaced to Malakand division. Since April 2010 around 22,000 families had returned to both agencies.

3. Khyber Agency: In September 2009, military operation was launched in Bara area leading to new displacement of about 10,000 families

4. Orakzai: Around 30,000 families fled military operations in hosted districts of Hangu and Kohat

5. South Wazirstan Agency In October 2009, more than 40,000 families fled to the districts of Tank and D.I. Kham.
