Torrential rains at the end of August 2017 have caused serious flooding in Niger. The authorities reported that hundreds of houses have been destroyed; key roads cut in several parts of the country and an evacuation of thousands of people in the capital, Niamey, has been ordered.
The present map shows the flood delineation in the area of Maradi (Niger). The thematic layer has been derived from post-event satellite image using a semi-automatic approach. The estimated geometric accuracy is 5 m CE90 or better, from native positional accuracy of the background satellite image.
