Description of landslide features: This map has been compiled from optical satellite imagery across the area that experienced shaking during the earthquake, available up to 04/05/2015

  • Orange dots: The locations of individual landslides, at the point at which they reach the valley base

  • Red dots: Potential valley-blocking landslides that have the potential to inhibit river ow, and pose a future breach risk to areas downstream

  • Red lines: Valleys which have experienced very intense landsliding, predominantly rockfall and dry debris flows. Major disruption should be expected

  • Orange line: Southern limit of the area of intense landsliding. Where solid, we have observed this limit; where dashed, the limit is anticipated but not visible in imagery
