In the South-East, the number of internally displaced people (IDPs) sharply increased from 983,600 last week to 994,300 this week.
In Tanintharyi Region, artillery shelling combined with reinforcement of the Tatmadaw’s troops displaced 19,237 within Launglon Township, and forced 5,915 IDPs to flee in a secondary displacement. In addition, armed clashes in Palaw Township displaced 2,164 people from Sin Htoe Gyi village to a forest near Kyauk Taung village. In Tanintharyi Township, an eviction by local defense forces displaced more 668 people. Following a withdrawal of troops by the Tatmadaw, 414 IDPs from Tanintharyi Township, 2,472 from Thayetchaung Township, 500 from Launglon Township, and 1,260 from Yebyu Township returned to their place of origin. Several shelling conducted by the Tatmadaw in Loikaw Township (Kayah State) forced thousands to flee to the neighboring Shan State (South)’s Pekon Township. Some 1,100 people were displaced while 939 IDPs made the same move as a secondary displacement.

In Bago Region (East), 857 people from Kyaukkyi Township were displaced to Kyaukkyi Town due to armed clashes between the Tatmadaw and an ethnic armed organization (EAO). The reinforcement of troops by the Tatmadaw also displaced 148 people from Yedashe Township.
