Monsoon seasonal floods triggered by heavy rains continue to affect several states and regions in Myanmar. Since 9 July, about 150,000 people have been displaced by flooding and at least 16 people have died, according to the Government’s Department of Disaster Management. Some of these people have returned to their homes, but over 122,000 remain displaced in 263 evacuation sites across Bago, Kayin, Mon, Tanitharyi and Magway. The Government continues to lead the response, in cooperation with state/regional authorities and with the support of national and international humanitarian organizations.
