Aerial assessments in Sofala province, in the centre, show an area more than 50km wide has been submerged. Buzi town, with more than 2,500 children, could be under water in 24 hours.
The Bank will be providing emergency assistance and a medium-term plan to meet the reconstruction needs in the affected areas, including a climate risk insurance plan.
