Tropical Cyclone DINEO formed over the Mozambique Channel on 13 February and then started moving south-west towards southern Mozambique, strengthening.
On 14 February its centre was located approx. 480 km north-east of the city of Inhambane province and it had max. sustained wind speed of 83 km/h (Tropical Storm strength).
Over the next 24 h it is forecast to continue moving west south-west towards the southern coast of Inhambane province, strengthening. On 15 February morning it may reach the south-eastern coast of Inhambane close to Marivate city (Inhambane province) with max. sustained wind speed of 120 km/h (Category 1 TC on the Saffir-Simpson scale). JRC estimations indicate a maximum storm surge height of 0.8 m in Marivate on 15 February as of 20.00 UTC.
According to INAM, over 15-16 February strong winds and locally heavy rain (up to 75 mm in 24 h) may affect the coastal districts of the provinces of Gaza and Inhambane.
