Map Information
A severe cold spell that hit Laos over the last few days has taken its toll on the northern region with more than 4000 livestock killed and a wide area of crops damaged. Preliminary data show that more than 400 hectares of crops and herbal plants were covered with snow and a large area of fruit trees was affected. It is also predicted that thousands of hectares of crops, herbal plants and fruit trees will suffer from the cold weather.
The present map shows the damage grade assessment in the area of Muang Khua - LAOS. The analysis is based on calculation of vegetation index (NDVI) and by means of visual interpretation. The estimated geometric accuracy is 3 m CE90 or better, from native positional accuracy of the background satellite image.
