This map shows the livelihood centre that given assistance
by NGOs in Klaten district Central Java Province.
The earthquake that struck Bantul on 27 May 2006 has caused
the community affected by the earthquake in DIY and Central Java Provinces
lost their daily livelihood. The communities in the affected area depend
on their live on micro, small and medium enterprises. Refer to the data
taken from Bappenas, approximately 88% from the industrial sector in the
affected areas were damaged, and approximately 30.000 enterprises in 6
regencies were also damaged, including about 10,000 enterprises in the
major sectors like food processing, furniture, textile, and ceramics, were
damaged.
