• TC MATTHEW is moving north as a Category 4 Hurricane. On 3 October at 09.00 UTC its centre was located approx. 370 km south-east of Kingston (Jamaica) and 470 km south-west of Port-de-Prince (Haiti) and had max sustained winds speed of 213 km/h (Category 4 Hurricane).
• Over the next 24 h it is forecast to move north maintaining its strength. It may pass off the eastern coast of Jamaica and reach the south western coast of Haiti early on 4 October (UTC), as a category 4 Hurricane.
• Very heavy rain, strong winds and storm surge may affect Jamaica, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Cuba and the Bahamas on 3-6 October. Southern Haiti could be particularly affected by very heavy rain. (total accumulation: 380-640 mm, with isolated amount of 1000 mm), with the risk of flash floods and landslides.
• Media reported, as of 3 October, that 700 people evacuated in Guantanamo province (Cuba), over 55 000 in the West Department (Haiti) and hundreds in the capital Kingston (Jamaica). They also reported, as of the same date, that several flights have been cancelled in Haiti and Jamaica.
