• On 24 July, a Request for Assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM), was
received from UNEP/OCHA Joint Environment Unit (JEU), for one environmental expert.
• On 31 July an environmental expert from Sweden was deployed to Ethiopia for two weeks.
• The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) has been able to distribute immediate life-saving
supplies, also from EU-funded prepositioned NFI stocks, as an initial response.
• DG ECHO Emergency funding EUR 150 000 through IFRC's Disaster Response Emergency Fund
(DREF) to support the ERCS in scaling up its emergency response
• Copernicus EMS Risk and Recovery Mapping activation
