On Saturday, January 29th, at national level, 63 active wildfires reported, 50 are controlled, 14 have been extinguished, affecting 509 000 hectares of vegetation in eighth regions of the country (Valparaíso, Metropolitana, O'Higgins, Maule, Bio-Bio, Araucanía, Los Ríos, Los Lagos). Many people have been evacuated from their houses but unfortunately several fatalities have been reported.
The present map shows the fire delineation in the area of Los Rios (Chile). The thematic layer has been derived from post-event satellite image by means of visual interpretation. The estimated geometric accuracy is 13 m CE90 or better, from native positional accuracy of the background satellite image.
