Since December 27, 2011, a massive forest fire has raged through the Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia, Chile.
The map shows a RapidEye image (5m resolution) of February 6, 2011, fire hot spots (MODIS) of January 3 and 4, 2012 and a burnt area extent of approximately 13,700 ha. The burnt area extent was derived by semi-automatic image analysis of RapidEye data acquired on February 6, 2011 and January 1 and 4, 2012.
Please note that only parts of the area could be analysed due to cloud cover and cloud shadow.
