Background and role
Based in Head Office Dublin, the Operations Team is a part of GOAL’s Programmes Department. Working closely with the other HQ departments, the Operations Team:
· Serves as the primary representative of country offices in HQ, representing the field’s interests in relevant processes, fora and in response to ad hoc information requests;
· Ensures the supervision of programme direction and coherence with organisational mission, strategies and policies;
General Description of the Programme:
GOAL an International Humanitarian Organisation has had a presence in Turkey since 2013 and has been contributing to the migrant response since 2016 with a focus on responding to needs in health service delivery, social safety nets and the protection of vulnerable and marginalised migrants in southern Turkey.
GOAL’s has been in Haiti since the devastating earthquake in January 2010 and has since then developed a programme portfolio targeting affected communities and supporting resilience building at household and community level. GOAL’s programmes have so far been in both the urban and rural contexts, in Port au Prince and Gressier, respectively.
Reporting to the Assistant Country Director- Programmes (ACDP), the Deputy Head of Programmes (DHoP) will support the work of the programmes department through providing focused management oversight and support to programme design, implementation and the achievement of project results. The office holder will also work closely with the ACD-P on many aspects of the design and resourcing of GOAL’s programmes in Syria and assume a leadership role within the programmes department. The role is offered for an initial 12 months period
GOAL has been present in Niger since 2005 mainly responding to the food crises and humanitarian needs of the most vulnerable communities. GOAL Niger has continuously supported the population of Mirriah, Goure, Matamaye, Magaria and Kantache, districts in Zinder Region. Over the years activities have ranged across various sectors of community-based programmes in Nutrition, Agriculture, Food Security, Livelihoods, Environmental management, rehabilitation of schools and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene).
GOAL Iraq programme was established in 2015 to respond to immediate humanitarian needs and support economic and livelihoods development. GOAL programmes in Dohuk support livelihood and economic development through a market systems approach including vocational and business training, small grants and technical support with a focus on the agricultural sector.
GOAL continues to seek to expand its programme in Iraq to meet humanitarian needs. This contract is for an initial period of 6 months with possibility of extension.
General description of the role
