Project Summary

MEDS has a contract with USAID Kenya called USAID Dawa za Ubora, which is scheduled to conclude in June 2026. The purpose of the contract is to obtain efficient, reliable and accountable supply chain management services for the procurement, warehousing, and distribution of health commodities for HIV, Malaria, Tuberculosis, Maternal/Neonatal/Child Health (MNCH) and Global Health Security (GHS) activities for patients across all 47 Counties in Kenya for adequate care, treatment and prevention for communicable diseases and other health needs.

About the role

The Supply Chain Officer – Distribution is responsible for ensuring efficient and timely delivery of medical commodities to health facilities. This role involves planning and executing delivery schedules, tracking commodity movement, monitoring distribution performance, addressing logistical challenges and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of the supply chain. The offer and contract are subject to availability of USG donor funding.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and execute delivery schedules and contingency plans to guarantee timely distribution of goods and address potential delays.
  2. Monitor and track commodity movement to the last mile to maintain the chain of custody.
  3. Prepare and analyze distribution reports to provide insights and track distribution performance.
  4. Conduct spot checks on transport service providers to assess their adherence to established standards and protocols.
  5. Address logistical challenges or disruptions reported by transport service providers to minimize their impact on distribution efficiency.
  6. Develop and implement a reverse logistics plan by coordinating with transport service providers and stakeholders to manage the return and redistribution of unused or excess health commodities.
  7. Coordinate the submission of Proof of Delivery (POD) documents from delivery points to ensure accountability within the distribution cycle.
  8. Serve as the primary point of contact between County Health Management Teams (CHMTs), implementing partners, and other stakeholders to facilitate seamless project operations.
  9. Familiarize with project guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure compliance.
  10. Operate project vehicles and ensure perform regular maintenance for reliability and safety.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, business or supply chain management, public administration, healthcare administration or a related field;
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in global health or health supply chain programs with a focus on warehousing and/or distribution;
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and collaborating with stakeholders such as government agencies or international donor agencies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain, 4PL and 3PL logistics
  • Member of a relevant professional body is an added advantage.
  • Valid driving licence with 2 years driving experience
