Video Reporters (f/m/d) DW Hindi

DW is seeking Video Reporters (f/m/d) DW Hindi for Programming in India as of 1 August 2025 or as soon as possible on the basis of a freelance contract limited for two years.

THE ROLE

You are cosmopolitan, curious to learn new things and produce content for our Indian and worldwide audiences? You are a team player with social competence who endeavors to find solutions for journalistic tasks with the team? The concept of equality and diversity is not alien to you? DW Hindi is looking for freelance video reporters (f/m/d) in major Indian cities, like Kolkata, Patna, Lucknow, Bhopal, Jaipur, Bangaluru and Chennai. You will report directly from location. You should therefore be willing to work from one of the locations listed (please clearly indicate possible locations in the application).

  • independent production of web videos in English, from writing the script, research, dramaturgy of storytelling, editing, to the final video
  • contribute to the development and implementation of formats for DW Hindi social media platforms, especially YouTube and Instagram
  • mobile reporting and creation of web videos
  • journalistic aptitude and close team collaboration on content and distribution

YOUR PROFILE

  • degree in journalism, science and technology, politics, economics or other relevant fields
  • several years of experience in video storytelling and editing
  • sound knowledge of social media (YouTube, Facebook, X and Instagram) as news gathering tool, as well as a confident assessment of trends and issues in social media
  • excellent storytelling skills for videos and texts of varying lengths and the ability to pitch original topics; experience with Adobe Premiere
  • enjoy working in front of the camera
  • very good command of written and spoken Hindi and English; German language proficiency an advantage
  • extensive knowledge of current political, economic, social and cultural conditions in India; knowledge of international politics and current affairs
  • ability to work in interdisciplinary and diverse teams, high level of intercultural sensitivity and respect for diversity
