About Pacific Labour Mobility Support Program
The Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme is a signature initiative for the Australian Government that enables workers from 9 Pacific Island Countries (PICs) and Timor- Leste to work in priority sectors in Australia. The Pacific Labour Mobility Support Program’s (PLMSP) role is to provide the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and governments in 9 PICs and Timor-Leste with support to enable workers to access PALM scheme in inclusive ways that maximise the benefits for the workers and national economies while minimising risks from labour mobility participation. Palladium is contracted to deliver PLMSP on behalf of DFAT.
This Opportunity
The Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) C oordinator – Disability will be responsible for overseeing implementation of disability-inclusive activities in PLMSP and supporting broader GEDSI efforts in line with the PLMSP GEDSI strategy.
This is a fixed-term position to September 2028 based in Brisbane.
The GEDSI Coordinator will be responsible for:
- Leading and implementing the PLMSP GEDSI Strategy with a focus on disability inclusion.
- Delivering culturally appropriate, on-track, and on-budget activities that support inclusive environments in the PALM scheme.
- Monitoring and adapting the disability inclusion pathway based on evolving needs.
- Providing technical support and training to in-country inclusion coordinators and PLMSP/LSU staff.
- Building partnerships with disability organisations in participating countries.
- Developing tools, guidelines, and training materials to support inclusion efforts.
- Contributing to GEDSI mainstreaming across PLMSP, including MERL, communications, worker and family agency activities.
- Fostering innovation through AI, data, and technology in inclusion practices.
- Maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and lead internal improvement initiatives.
- Promoting a respectful, inclusive, and feedback-driven team culture.
We are seeking an individual who:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Gender, Social Sciences, International Development, Community Development or Anthropology.
- Minimum five years professional experience working in the program management of relevant programs, preferably with a Pacific and/or Timor-Leste focus.
- Good knowledge in disability inclusion, and understanding key concepts of gender equality, or social inclusion, and knowledge of/interest in the other areas with the ability to translate theory into practice.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders across multiple cross-cultural contexts.
- Demonstrated experience managing budgets and resources to ensure timely implementation of deliverables.
- Strong liaison and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
- Strong skills in written communication and report writing.
- Highly developed organisational skills, agility and the ability to balance and prioritise multiple tasks and work well under pressure.
