Community Health Worker– Lebanon Crisis Response

Program Summary:

Project HOPE is providing humanitarian assistance to the conflict-affected population in Lebanon. The current response portfolio focuses on Health, Mental Health, Protection, and WASH programming through Project HOPE programs and partnerships.

This Consultant role will be based in Lebanon. Local Nationals only.

Candidates will be expected to work in either the Baalbek or South Governorates.

Time Commitment is from June 15, 2025- November 30, 2025

POSITION SUMMARY:

Project HOPE is seeking health professionals to join our Lebanon Country Response team for the role of community health worker(s). As CHW, you will develop and implement community outreach initiatives to complement services provided at Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCC). Responsibilities could include designing outreach activities to promote positive healthcare activities, raise awareness within the community on services provided at the PHCCs, and coordinate with community leaders to develop their capacities to ensure adherence to community health efforts. You will work in collaboration with the Project HOPE’s country and regional teams and PHCC staff to deliver community health services and hygiene promotion activities to the targeted beneficiaries. The extent of these responsibilities will be dependent on the Lebanon evolving context and the needs of the Project HOPE team.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Community Health Worker is expected to approach their engagement with a positive attitude and be willing to support the needs identified for the response.

Below is a list of tasks that Community Health Worker is expected to be able to support. Health responsibilities will be based on their experience as healthcare professional and will only be able to participate in the context of that position.

  • Develop Outreach Activities: Design activities to promote positive health and hygiene practices. In collaboration with PHCC staff and community leader, develop campaigns and community “Health Day” sessions to raise awareness on PHCC services.
  • Oversee Implementation: Ensure quality service provision, taking into consideration the evolving context within the community, cultural competency, and effective communication to strengthen key community members.
  • Coordination: Maintain and build on relationships with key community leaders as part of the PHCC outreach team. Ensure constant coordination and communication with community leaders and represent Project HOPE at sub-national sector meetings, if available.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Oversee the maintenance of accurate and timely reporting to Project HOPE M&E system and contribute to weekly reports for internal and external stakeholders, in collaboration with MEL focal point at the country team.

The Community Health Worker will also be expected to support other duties as assigned. The duties and responsibilities listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Nursing, Public Health or a related Health field.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing community-based health activities.
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in outreach and health field.
  • Previous NGO experience highly preferred.
  • Has developed strong working relationships with community members and key stakeholders in similar setting.
  • Ability to work in challenging and resource-limited environments.

  • This position is based in Lebanon. Given the current conflict conditions, candidate must be able to work in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Work may require working in a country where working conditions are classified as “hardship.”
