Nutrition Expert/ Advisor– Consultancy Position

With a focus on high-impact projects in regions such as the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Africa, STOOS works closely with clients and stakeholders to deliver actionable, data-driven insights that influence policy, project design, and implementation. We are now expanding our team and are seeking an experienced Nutrition Expert to contribute to our growing portfolio of nutrition-sensitive evaluations, assessments, and research projects.

Position Summary:

STOOS is seeking a Nutrition Expert to provide technical expertise on nutrition integration in evaluations, assessments, and research initiatives. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal teams to design, conduct, and analyze nutrition-focused projects, producing evidence-based recommendations to inform programming, policy, and advocacy. This role requires strong expertise in nutrition issues, public health, and food security frameworks in both development and humanitarian settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Nutrition Assessments and Evaluations: Lead and contribute to nutrition-focused evaluations and assessments, including designing research tools, overseeing fieldwork, and analyzing nutrition-specific data.
  • Provide Technical Expertise: Offer technical guidance on integrating nutrition-sensitive approaches into broader evaluations and research activities, ensuring alignment with global and national frameworks.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze nutrition-related data (quantitative and qualitative), ensure findings are disaggregated by relevant indicators (e.g., age, gender, location), and prepare clear, actionable reports.
  • Collaboration: Engage with stakeholders, including NGOs, UN agencies, and government institutions, to ensure nutrition components are integrated in project design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Capacity Strengthening: Develop training materials and provide technical support to project staff and partners on nutrition-sensitive methodologies and tools.
  • Policy and Advocacy Support: Contribute to nutrition-related advocacy efforts by synthesizing evidence and developing position papers or briefs for programmatic or policy influence.

Requirements:

Education:

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Food Security, or a related field.

Experience:

  • At least 7 years of professional experience in the field of nutrition, including project-based research, assessments, and evaluations in development and/or humanitarian contexts.
  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting nutrition assessments (e.g., SMART surveys, anthropometric data analysis) and developing nutrition-sensitive programming recommendations.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including international NGOs, government institutions, and UN agencies.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Additional language skills are highly desirable, particularly Arabic, French, or Ukrainian, or Swahili to support STOOS’ diverse regional portfolio.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proven knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative nutrition research methods.
  • Proficiency in relevant analysis software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, ENA, Kobo, or NVivo).
  • Strong understanding of nutrition-sensitive programming and the linkages between nutrition, WASH, food systems, and livelihoods.
  • Experience in developing and delivering nutrition training or capacity-building programs.
  • Ability to adapt methodologies to local contexts while maintaining methodological rigor.
